yall remember when Sam & Dean were investigating psychic siblings and were at a museum of famous psychics and the museum tour guide was like “sibling psychic acts never lasted long cuz of the pressure of working together and being so close their entire lives” drawing a clear parallel between the psychic siblings and Sam & Dean esp cuz in that episode they’d just had a fight and then the tour guide went “but not the campbell (Sam and Dean’s mother’s MAIDAN name) brothers tho cuz they were actually boyfriends”

so basically the narrative draws a clear parallel between these psychic siblings and Sam&Dean and then turns around and goes “those psychic ‘siblings’ were fucking btw” like whatttt

I think we should've gotten a scene where lucifer and michael, while possessing sam and dean's bodies, had a heart-to-heart moment filled with obsessive contempt, toxic manipulation, and heaps of homoerotic tension and incestuous subtext. and of course their argument would've clearly mirrored sam and dean's conflict. and it would've left the viewer feeling slightly nauseous and unsettled :)

Supernatural really said Sam has to fuck this woman in order for the parallel between his relationship with her and his brother’s relationship with him to work. It’s necessary for the parallel we promise <3 and the reason this was so emotionally impactful was that the characters were also aware of the parallel. S8E4 a guy says “Is it just me or are you getting a workplace romance vibe from those two?” about sam and dean. like. someone had to write that line. and someone else needed to approve of it. and then they had to film it. and no one said “hey maybe what if we don’t make a joke about these two brothers having sex? Don’t you think we have enough incest jokes?” and ykw maybe someone DID say that, and all the spn writers chuckled and nodded their heads and then took him out back and shot him

The two things I newly recognized in this episode:

In the restaurant scene, the clerk said, "You're a virile manifestation of the divine." to Dean. At first run, I think it's just a funny flirting and also very honest line. However I rewatch this episode and curious about this line again, so I googled it and then I find very interesting interpretations about it! Some spn fans argue that: when Dean's first walked into the restaurant and sit in front of Sam, Sam thought it's another hallucination of Lucifer, but after the clerk said to Dean that he's a "virile(alive) manifestation of the divine(belongs to God/Heaven)", he realized that it's real Dean. Therefore Sam called his bro's name, "Dean", and then start to talk with him. I thought this interpretations works so well!! 😄

I finally understood what the museum staff said about the 'Campbell brothers'! He mentioned that "They aren't actually brothers; that was just a cover for their alternative lifestyle." After he told them, Sam and Dean seems quiet awkward. I didn't realize what it means but now I understand that ✌alternative lifestyle✌ means past period's gay marriage subtext. So the Campbells are the couples, and the Winchester bros, who look soo different from each other, are always mistaken for a Wincest by others. It's hillarious!! lol
